A1 Logistics: Availability Of Equipment
Availability Of Equipment
When buying or hiring equipment It is crucial
to pick the right equipment as it can affect the entire filming of your
production and for your budget in general, it can take an unnecessary and
detrimental chunk out of your budget, and if the budget was initially small to
begin with it can be even more of a problem. Not only will it hurt the budget
but it will also harm the overall filming of the production as well. For
example, if a camera fails to start working it would therefore mean that the
crew is incapable of filming, slowing down the movement of the process, this
would link to why deadlines are important, as failure to complete something on
time has a domino effect within the process and the loss of equipment could
therefore ruin the following tasks that follow.
Another issue you need to consider
with availability of equipment is the budgeting. For example, when filming a
high budget project the company/crew/people behind it may choose to actually
purchase the equipment to use as they will. This would also be the case in
productions that last a long period of time and take a lot of time and effort
to finish. Whereas productions that have smaller budgets may choose to hire
equipment instead as it would be much cheaper in regards to obtaining your
budget and not going over the set price. It is also ideal for productions that
will not take a large amount of time, hiring equipment for short periods would
be more efficient in regards of budget as you don’t have to spend large amounts
of money on the equipment that you can hire for a cheaper price. There is a
detrimental difference between prices of buying a hiring. For example, to buy a
RED camera, including all the lenses and other accessories would cost averagely
around £100,000. Whereas to hire a RED camera it only costs £850 daily.
Therefore, if you are contemplating hiring or buying equipment you should take
the length into consideration
